WHAT ARE BEHAVIOR DISORDERS?
It turns out that children can have very similar problems that adults do. It is just sometimes harder to tell. Often children are not good at telling you how they feel. Children can have depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and oppositional defiance. They also can have developmental problems that confound the diagnosis like Asperger’s disorder, autism, and pervasive developmental delay.
At Northwest Spokane Pediatrics, we treat many children with the above disorders. We utilize medications, referrals to counselors, and parent guidance to help improve the child’s situation. But we do not believe in turning your child into a medicated “zombie.” We pay close attention to how the child is responding to treatments make adjustments accordingly. It is often a fine line between having a good response and being a “zombie.”
